First, there was the German Playgroup. In 1998, when Gaby Villiotis joined the group with her daughter Stefanie (at that time Stefanie was 2 years old) she organized for the first time a lantern walk and performed with the children a Christmas musical. More and more children enjoyed the Arts & Craft afternoons and soon we had regular classes with lots of interested kids and parents.
Today, the goal of The German Learning Center of Weston is to introduce children, teenager and adults to the German Language and Culture, learning a second language while having fun.
We offer affordable German language instructions for all ages. Our mission is to provide an outstanding educational experience based on cognitive, creative, and social learning skills. By using these skills our students will enhance and advance their ability to speak, read, understand, and write the German Language at their individual skill levels in a German-speaking environment and gain a genuine understanding of the German culture and traditions in a friendly atmosphere. Children learn best while they having fun and feeling comfortable.
We also offer a variety of music and arts classes for children beginning at the age of three. Recorder lessons, singing, music, dance, playing and performing are as much part of the classes as are drawing, arts & crafts, knitting, sewing, crochet, needlework and design. The choices include traditional German songs and dramatics, create your own lanterns and be part of the yearly lantern festival in November, help creating costumes and perform with us our traditional German Christmas Musical.
Our classes take place during the week on various afternoons and on Saturdays.
